  15. Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server contains all the features of
  16. Windows NT. It is, however, a superset of Windows NT. It has
  17. additional enhanced features ideally suitable for a versatile network
  18. server, as compared to Windows NT which can be used only as a
  19. workgroup server.

  21. The following features of Windows NT Advanced Server are not part of
  22. Windows NT:

  24.  - Domain Control - Windows NT Advanced Server can be used as a Domain
  25.    Controller which facilitates centralized network administration.
  26.    Domain is a concept of logically grouping servers and workstations
  27.    into one unit.
  28.  
  29.  - Trust Relationship - It can be used to set up trust relationship
  30.    with other network domains to extend the network connectivity.
  31.  
  32.  - Advanced Fault Tolerance - It has advanced fault tolerance features
  33.    which include disk mirroring, disk duplexing and disk striping with
  34.    parity. This protects against data loses due to hard disk or
  35.    computer failure.

  37.  - Directory Replication - This feature of Windows NT AS allows export
  38.    of files from a particular directory from the master server to
  39.    multiple computers and update files automatically.

  41.  - Central Location for User Profile - This facility provides the
  42.    facility of storing multiple users operating environment called
  43.    profiles at a central location so that these can be accessed from any
  44.    workstation in the network.

  46.  - Services for Macintosh - This enables Macintosh computers to
  47.    connect to Windows NT Advanced Server as workstations and clients.
  48.  
  49.  - Extended RAS Support - Remote Access Services in the Advanced Server
  50.    supports up to 64 ports, compared to 1 for Windows NT. This feature
  51.    allows multiple remote workstations to connect to NT AS. It provides
  52.    access to client-server applications and advanced security.
